LOCAL ATTRACTION

Milano

The city of fashion, design, avant-gard fair events – and extremely lively from the economic point of view – ranks among the most dynamic metropolis in the world.

Bellagio

Bellagio – located at the top of the so called “Larian triangle” and at the base of the cape dividing the lake into the branches of Como and Lecco – is one of the most famous and elegant lake resorts rich in mansions and enchanting natural landscapes.

The Pleistocene glaciations with the big ice flows coming from the Valtellina and Val Chiavenna modelled the Larian landscape as it is now: for four times, the glaciers extended towards south as far as the Brianza. Only the highest peaks, among which Mount San Primo, emerged from the ice coat and forced the glacier to divide into two branches: this mountain dominates the top of the Larian Triangle on which Bellagio is located.

Inhabited since prehistory, this site became a steady settlement in the Roman age when it became the venue for a villa belonging to Pliny the Younger, although there is no historical evidence supporting this hypothesis.

Walled site during the Lombard age, in the age of medieval communes it supported the faction opposing to Como and was then subjugated by the Visconti family, who razed the walls. At the end of 15th century Ludovico il Moro gave it as feoff to the Stanga family; it then passed under the control of the Sfrondati family, who owned most of the eastern shore of the lake, and in 1647 it was partially controlled by the Airoldi family.

These families, as well as many others, built villas and mansions creating wide and well structured parks, especially in 19th century. In 19th century Bellagio became one of the most renowned holiday resorts in Europe.

Lecco

Located on “That branch of the lake of Como…” described by Alessandro Manzoni in “The Betrothed”, Lecco is clearly visible and very appreciated for the beauty of its landscapes and for the harsh rocky walls of its mountains.
The territory in the province of Lecco gathers art, nature and culture in itself.

Como

Famous as the “Silk Capital”, Como harmoniously combines the attractions which have made it so charming.
The modern buildings do not damage the many art masterpieces, the typical houses located under the majestic mountains, the beautiful lake – one of the most impressive pre-alpine lakes – and much more make Como a lovely and peculiar town.

Territory

Our territory is one of the richest for its wildlife, beautiful landscapes and age-old trees surrounded, during springtime, by thousands of coloured and perfumed flowers.

When talking about our territory from our point of view, mentioning the Park “Valle Lambro” is a “must”:there you can find kilometres of tracks where you can walk, bike ride and horse ride. This is where our properties are located and where the new one will open, in December 2010 .

Our park extends on the shores of river Lambro, enriching the surrounding green areas and giving a real sense of peace with its slow flowing.

Besides enjoying an enchanting country atmosphere, this hotel gives you something more: an old mill located nearby and abandoned for a very long time will soon be restored and qualified as the Museums of Mills and ancient jobs and will open to schools to visitors coming either from the area or from outside.

For the lucky guests of the new hotel, this place will represent a cultural destination as well as an original place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink together with tasty appetizers cooked according to the ”Camesasca” tradition and with local products.

Not very far from our properties m the Baggero Natural oasis with two small lakes, ideal scenario for taking photos and favourite destination for the environmentalists.

We proudly boast our park (locally called “Camp Marz”) as location for the famous movie ALLOSANFANT shot by the Taviani brothers in 1974, starring Marcello Mastroianni. This movie by Paolo & Vittorio Taviani led to the beginning of their partnership with Ennio Morricone and was presented during the “Quinzaine des Réalisateurs” at the Cannes Festival in 1975.

As you can see, this territory rich in beautiful landscapes is also rich in history and culture and leads us to past times which should never be forgotten. The “Mill Museum” has been conceived with this purpose.

Don’t go too far! This wonders are waiting for you. And so do we.

Windmills

The Camesasca family – operating in the restaurant field since 1919 – runs the 4-star Property “Il Corazziere”, located in Merone (Como) by a quiet bight of river Lambro.

The hospitality business was set up by Giuseppe Camesasca at the end of his military career as Royal Carabiniere (the so called “Corazzieri”) serving King Vittorio Emanuele III. In 1919 Camesasca opened the fishers’ inn on the river shores. As the years went by, the new generations managed to maintain and expand the business and nowadays they are committed in widening and enriching the offer by undertaking an interesting and demanding project: the reclamation, restoration and partial change of use of a former mill located by the hotel “Il Corazziere”.

This mill – strongly desired and bought after very long negotiations – is located on a side branch of river Lambro and exploits the energy provided by water thanks to four metal sails. When operating it was used as flour mill, but also to grind rape seeds and as oil mill during the fascist age. The Camesasca family bought a sail and then the whole mill, totally neglected, together with some machinery, bags and tools.
